High-temperature processes such as the heat treatment of metals under vacuum or inert gas require customized furnace concepts and equipment. From design and engineering concepts to materials and finished products, the SGL Group offers all components from a single source. This means that application- and customer-optimized solutions can be developed and carbon fiber-reinforced carbon (CFC) charging systems for metal hardening can be matched precisely to the requirements of both furnace builders and operators, together with graphite heaters and insulation materials in graphite foil and felt. SIGRATHERM® rigid felt is a shape-retentive insulating material made of graphite fibers and a carbon binder. Its properties are governed by the precursor, the type and quantity of the binder, its compression ratio and thermal treatment. The material is carbonized and graphitized. It is suitable for temperatures up to 2,200°C and used in the form of self-supporting boards, cylinders and other components, mainly in high-temperature furnace applications.

SIGRABOND®
Charging Systems for High-Temperature Applications. Charging systems made
from SIGRABOND® carbon fiber-reinforced carbon provide a number of
advantages over systems made of high-temperature steel or molybdenum-chromium
or nickel-chromium alloys.
